- Music from the village of Warsaw- 'Kapela
ze wsi Warzsawa'
Poland, being already with one foot in the European Union, is still a country
widely unknown in the European folk music scene. And that although there is
currently a very vibrant folk music scene. Kapela ze wsi Warzsawa is one of
the magnificent bands that Poland has produced, and this young innovative
band was this summer guest at the Tanz & Folk Fest Rudolstadt. We took this
opportunity to talk for FolkWorld a bit with Maciej, drum player in the band,
about the band and the Polish folk music scene.

- Irish Music à la carte with Dereelium,
Germany's best
The Continental Celts series, Part VI. EXPO 2000 in Hanover is over,
so why again setting the spotlight on Hanover? Well maybe because out of this
town comes probably the best German Irish trad. Band, that can easily take
it up with its Irish colleagues. Or because Hanover hosts some of the best
Irish folk sessions in Germany, where always this Irish trad band plays an
important part.

The Scots Musical Museum - rambles through
Scotland and Northumbria
On a fine autumn morning, Tom Keller stumbled from the Newcastle ferry. Sick,
not because of 16 hours on the stormy North Sea, but rather of the Bulgarian
showband in the ship's bar. Fortunatly, there were better things to come.
Tom looked on his journey behind the showcases in Scotland & Northumbria...

- Copenhagen's Continental Celtic Feast
The Copenhagen Irish Festival. Arriving half an hour before the Friday
night concert should start, the way to the bar of the festival café gave already
a wonderful indication of the treats to expect during this November weekend:
Several mighty sessions in the rooms of the café, the atmosphere was great,
the Guinness was flowing; and there was a special kind of cosiness that the
Danish would probably call "hygge" - classicist rooms with comfortable armchairs,
lit mainly by candlelight. And yes, it was a very comfortable weekend with
loads of great music.

- Niamh Parsons: Prime Time Lady
It seemed three years ago that Niamh Parsons was on the cusp of a carer as
a contemporary singer, we wondered, and pondered and asked the key question,
would she become the new Mary Black?. Back then she was involved with the
band the Loose Connections . Times and things musical change and Niamh's career
has taken a different route, as Sean Laffey found out when he visited her
in her Malahide home.

- Scanfolk Part II: Denmark - folky home
of Christmas
At the end of his two months in Denmark, Michael Moll can even claim to have
seen some folk music over there, although being based in a relatively non-folk
area in mid-Jutland. This feature is about Christmas beer and lunches, Phønix,
ticket calls, Drever & Chisholm, Jazz and Europe...

- Thousand years of Hungarian dance-music:
The Transsylvanians
When Eelco Schilders had the chance to listen 3 years ago the first time to
a CD of The Transsylvanians, he loved it from the first minute. "I couldn't
sit still and the music made me smile and dance through the room. Nobody seems
to know them and it took me three years before I saw them live on stage for
the first time. It was also my chance to meet them shortly and ask them a
few questions." So enjoy this story of a Berlin based band, playing Hungarian
music.
