FolkWorld 25th Anniversary 1997-2022

In the far and wildest parts of the Rhodope mountains, we've witnessed the colorful tale of a deep and wet season. Autumn is the omen of a deep sleep and the freezing winter. It gives us time to reflect and be grateful for the Earth and its gifts. But now the Earth takes back all that she gave birth to. She gathers the dead leaves in her lap to prepare them for the new life that will sprout from them. Тhe signs of nature show us the future, the past and the present - the three dimensions of our existence. They are like three parallel rivers that never meet, like three parallel strings. Sounding at the same time, they still connect in the world of music and natural sounds. At that place, they exchange their experiences and tell us about the meaning of life.

Music for the Soul

I will introduce you to the Flying Nomads, a duo from Bulgaria I am coaching in the framework of the MOST Project - THE BRIDGE FOR BALKAN MUSIC (www.mostmusic.eu).

The mission of MOST Music is to boost the music market of the Balkans by connecting and supporting actors of the world music scene; artists, managers, festivals and institutions.

The Flying Nomads are a Balkan music duo living in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria. Kristina and Daniel create music for the soul that helps reconnect with yourself, nature and the ancient.

The Flying Nomads

Bulgaria, at the border between Europe and Asia, has a wealth of ancient traditions and natural beauties. Imagine walking in a natural paradise like the Rhodope Mountains, home to a stunning wilderness, beautiful blue water lakes, dreamy meadows and ancient temple complexes. Here, would start your journey with the Flying Nomads.

Their recordings, video clips, and other productions are an invitation to put more nature & roots in our life. In a fragmented and noisy world like ours, the regenerative music they create and perform is like a soothing caress, barely touched, and delicately scented.

The duo draw their influences and inspiration from various sources, including the rich musical heritage of Bulgaria and the broader world of modern music. They perform in the nature, on the street, at people’s homes & at various music festivals and gatherings. They have performed at more significant Open air & Medieval festivals and intimate gatherings like Cacao ceremonies, retreats & art gallery openings.

Kristina is a professional photographer and herbal remedies creator. She traveled the world. The Middle East and the Indian subcontinent significantly influenced her life and work. During her stays, she studied percussion and various forms of local music traditions. She has a special connection with the Daf – a Middle Eastern (mainly Iranian) frame drum used in popular and classical music and Sufism rituals. Inspired by the “invisible” world, Kristina also creates deep space and meditation music, where you can hear her playing various instruments, including sitar, ukulele, and guitar.

Daniel has a background in many fields, but he is a musician in the soul. He has a beautiful voice and plays Bulgarian tambura. His interest in music started when he was a kid. Over the years, he developed a passion for string instruments, especially the classical guitar. Besides his musical works with the Flying Nomads, Daniel is very busy with a music academy project for children and young adults.

Prayer to the Wind is the forth song from the Synthesis project. It is dedicated to the wind element and the season spring. The video captures two of Bulgaria's treasures. The first one is one of the most precious roses in the World - Damascena. Due to the crisis in 2021 the farmers need help in order to preserve the fields. Long story, so keep it short - Volunteers are more than welcome! The second place is one of the last "wild" beaches in Bulgaria - Irakli. Since 2012 bars, hotels and shops are being built there. The building process is continuing to grow over the beach and forest areas. Let's do our best to keep Irakli away from the urbanization, but close to the nature. People need Freedom. Plants, animals and the Nature need it too.

Synthesis Project is dedicated to nature and to its delicate balance with humanity. We see the year 2020 as a pure example of the Butterfly effect. These times in many ways have shown us how all is in connection on this Earth. All the music within Synthesis is recorded in the organic silence of nature. Our aim in having studios out in the nature is to rebuild the essential connection of humans with their core habitat. We are calling out for artists who believe it is time to unite as humans and to live more consciously. Express your connection to your environment and join Synthesis by creating your own music video out in the nature !
