Les Tireux d'Roches are great storytellers. This time, it is without words that the Quebec group unveils the history of its terroir, that of its land, of the Saint-Maurice River - named Tapiskwan Sipi in the Atikamekw language. As a result of musical inspiration drawn from these waters, and its hundreds of kilometers of eloquent memory, this album is a guide for a unique encounter with the Tapiskwan Sipi, the heart and soul of the Mauricie.

Composed of Denis Massé (vocals and accordion), Dominic Lemieux (guitar, banjo, bouzouki, and vocals), Pascal Veillette (harmonica, podorythmie, guitar, and vocals), Luc Jason Murphy (flutes, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, and vocals), and David Robert (percussion and vocals), the five-piece band is now coming to its seventh full-length album in career.

With this new record produced, sound recorded, and mixed by Davy Gallant (Studio Dogger Pond), Les Tireux d'Roches explore a whole new avenue. With the voice of Karine Awashish (co-founder of the Nitaskinan co-op), they offer for the first time a purely instrumental album and invite listeners to make the descent of the Saint-Maurice River all in music. And let's talk about this music: untamable, it allows itself, again and again, the right to an adventure. Rooted in Quebec culture and combining traditional and folk genres in the manner of a world music that finds its home everywhere, their sound resonates and undeniably arouses moments of happiness, effervescence, and camaraderie.

Les Tireux d'Roches have come a long way since that famous 1998 evening in the little café of St-Élie-de-Caxton (Quebec) where it all began. For more than 20 years, traveling through China, Europe, and America, they performed more than 1,000 shows. The five musicians have undeniably mastered the recipe for creating joy wherever the road takes them. On Canadian stages - notably those of the Francos de Montréal, the Festivoix, the Festif!, the Mémoire et Racines Festival, the Toboggan Festival, the La Virée Festival, the Calgary Folk Music Festival, and the Hillside Summer Festival — and internationally — at the American Folk Festival (United States), the Festiv'alles (France), the Printemps des Bretelles (France), the Shanghai Arts Festival (China), the WOMEX (Spain) and the Francofolies de Spa (Belgium), Les Tireux d'Roches definitely know how to leave their indelible mark on people's hearts.
