Songs for kids to learn a new language. Smithsonian Folkways have had previous albums with the same concept as this album - to help young children to learn or appreciate a language through songs.
Elizabeth Mitchell & Suni Paz’s „Tu eres mi flor” features Spanish songs, with accessible choruses, and / or translations of well known American songs - such as „You are my sunshine“ or „Row row row your boat“. With simple repeated words these songs are designed for children to quickly pick up foreign vocabulary. The songs are presented by popular children’s artists Elizabeth Mitchell and Suni Paz, in simple arrangements usually guitar and some hand percussion.
I would imagine this album to be a great addition for Spanish teaching in the classroom, but equally will your kids at home be able to pick some songs or words in a new language. The booklet features the lyrics both in Spanish and English so you can read the Spanish lyrics to sing along and refer back to the English to learn what the words actually mean.
