TRUST FUND FOR FERGUS, RODERICK AND DIARMID CAMPBELL
BOBBY CAMPBELL Born July 27 1942, Died September 29 1997:
Bobby was a fiddle player and he formed together with Gordon McCulloch and Enoch Kent the group The Exiles who were an important influence during the formative years of the folk revival. In addition to The Exiles, Bobby played with various other performers. In the early sixties, along with old buddies Hamish Imlach and Josh McRae, he performed with The Emmettones, playing and recording Irish rebel ballads. During the seventies he renewed his early love of old timey/country music as The New Deal String Band, with Tom Paley and Joe Lockyer. Despite the increasing demands of his journalistic career, he found time to form Alive 'n' Pickin' with Robin McKidd and Davie Craig where he was able to give full rein to the double-stopping, almost percussive fiddle style that was, perhaps, his trademark. Again with Robin, he took part in High Speed Grass playing as support band for Billy Connolly. Throughout the 70s and 80s he also performed as a duo with close pal and fellow-journalist Trevor Hyett, giving his talents to a wide range of left- wing campaigns. Bobby also performed with other groups inlcuding The Wayfarers (with Archie and Rae Fisher)

His tragic death has orphaned his 13 year old triplet sons, Fergus, Roderick and Diarmid, their mother, journalist Honorah Perry, having died some eight years past.

A Trust fund has been set up to secure the boys' future, and a Benefit Concert is to be held during Celtic Connections on Tuesday 20th January in the main auditorium at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. (A further concert is being planned for Edinburgh in March) All the performers (listed below) are numbered among Bobby's personal friends. There are a few other "big" names who are also hoping to take part.

Irish Dance & Music Workshop in Paris
The Irish Association in Paris is organising A Dance & Music Workshop on Saturday 31st of January & Sunday 1st of February 1998. The teachers will be:

Set Dancing with the Brooks Academy.
Accordion with Aidan Coffey.
Fiddle with Seamus Creagh.
Concert Flute with Emer Mayock.
Uilleann Pipes with Gabriel McKeon.
A Ceili on Saturday 31st of January evening with the help of the Brooks Academy.
A Concert on Friday the 30th of January by all the musicians above joined by Mick Willis on the Piano.

The Dance workshop will be housed in an old theatre and the musical Instruments workshops will take place in various PUBS among the growing numbers of Irish pubs in Paris.
